Quick tips for Oily skin

Hi guys, hope you are doing great! This is the second part of my QUICK TIPS for skin types post.

How to determine if you have OILY SKIN: Take a clean tissue and dab it all over the face, especially the T-zone (Forehead, nose & chin). If the tissue has any oil spots, it means that you most probably have an oily skin.

Oily skin has the following signs: Because the sebaceous glands over produce oil your skin will be prone to develop acne because of clogged pores, another sign will be enlarged pores. Your skin could be oily in the T-zone area and the skin will appear dull.

♥ How to care for oily skin: Even though you have oily skin, it may be dry during the winter but it is still important to avoid rich moisturizers. This will only cause more buildup and clog pores, rather use serum based moisturizers this will be better than lotions or creams. Proper cleansing is very important but do not use abrasive cleansing methods, it will strip your skin of its natural moisture. Rather use gel based, foamy & oil-free cleansers. Cleansers with activated charcoal, salicylic acid, tea tree, honey and no sulfates work best. You need to exfoliate twice a week to remove dead skin cells.

♥ Masks for oily skin: Use 1 tablespoon Honey, 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda & 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix together. Remove all makeup and cleanse face. Rub mask in circular motions all over face, leave for 5-10min and wipe off with a lukewarm face towel.
A great exfoliate scrub is 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of Honey & 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Scrub face with mixture for 2min and rinse of with lukewarm water.

Makeup tips for oily skin: Always use a primer for oily and acne prone skin. Try to use minimal products, especially in the summer. Use an Oil free foundation (Revlon has a great one for Oily skin). Set your foundation and concealer with a loose powder and refrain from using to much shimmer. It will be best to use powder products for your face instead of cream products, they will just wipe off. Always have a small makeup kit with blotting paper and powder in your handbag.
