Winter beauty tips from A-Z (Part 1)
"What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness?" - John Steinbeck
We are absolutely in that time of the year where it is summer in the light and winter in the shade, but it is MAY! I want my comfy jackets, scarfs & boots, I'm so ready for winter!
But first, here are a couple of tips for winter skincare, hair care & makeup:
A – Try to avoid alcohol based toners during the winter
time, your skin might already be dry because of the cold, dry season. Using
toners that contain alcohol may dry out your skin even more.
B – Skin brushing may sound weird if
you don’t know what it is. This is just another way to exfoliate and keep
the circulation going. Use a body brush on dry skin and start at the ankles
using circular motion then using long smoother strokes. It is important to
start from your feet upwards to your heart.
C – Rather use cream makeup products like blush during
winter. Remember to set it with a translucent powder.
D – Drink a lot water, you know how important it is to keep your body hydrated all though the
year, not only for your skin but for your immune system to.
E – If your cuticles are hydrated your nails will be stronger.
Use excess eye cream on them.
F – Foundation should never be too much. Even in winter less is more. You can opt
for a medium full coverage foundation but use a damp sponge instead of a brush.
G – Use a gentle scrub on your face but limit it to 2-3 times a week. You can use a coarser
scrub on the rest of your body to remove dry & dead skin.
H- Using the heater all the time will not only dry out the indoor air but also dry out your skin, lips and mucous membranes leading to dry nose (may cause nose bleeds) and dry, sore throat. Use a humidifier to replace the moisture in the air.
I -Flu shots or Influenza vaccine is great to help protect against the horrible colds and flues during winter. These antibodies help protect your immune system against a number of flues and infections.
J - Jojoba oil is a great alternative makeup remover, not only does it remove it in seconds, it hydrated while cleaning.
K- Keratin treatments is amazing for dry and damaged hair. I tend to blow dry my hair much more during winter, that is why I like to use a keratin oil before using heat.
L - Lather coconut oil onto your body before you get into the shower, gentle wash with a soft sponge. Coconut oil is amazing to hydrate dry skin. You can also use it in your hair as a mask or on your scalp.
M- Your hair is only as healthy as you are. Use a Multivitamin with Biotin, this will help your hair grow faster and be much healthier during the dry winter season.
Keep a look out for the second part of my winter tips (N-Z).
